FENDI KIDS SS 2011 COLLECTION

To celebrate the launch of Fendi’s adorable new children’s wear line, Fendi Kids SS 2011 Collection, actress and mom-about-town Kelly Rutherford, in partnership with the lovely Lyss Stern of Divalysscious Moms, hosted a fashion show and cocktail party at Fendi’s Fifth Avenue Flagship store.

Sassy petite fashionistas sashayed in printed dresses and skirts, tees and blouses, and jackets and trenches in varying colors of pink, yellow, and neutral tones, while deliciously shy little princes sported blazers, polo tees, shorts, and button downs in nautical motifs and plaids in gray, sand, and khakis:

The spontaneity of the little models kept the uptown crowd grinning ear to ear.  Cocktails and cupcakes from Ilene Miriam didn’t hurt either…

HAPPY EASTER

UPDATING TRADITION

Thank you to Log Cabin for sponsoring my post about updated traditions in my household. To learn more about Log Cabin Syrups (which are all free of High Fructose Corn Syrup), breakfast for dinner, and other new ways to update traditions in your home, click here. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

The celebration of Passover has begun and Easter weekend is upon us.

No time of year are a family’s traditions more prevalent than the holidays and with the fickle winter almost a distant memory, I’m really looking forward to ours.

I have sweet memories of Easter growing up, and not just because I sneaked fist fulls of jelly beans and Peeps until my stomach screamed.  I can still smell the vinegar from coloring eggs in preparation for the big day and feel the anticipation my brother and I experienced running through the house searching for the baskets the Easter Bunny had cleverly hidden.

Polaroids remind me of being dolled up in a pastel dress, white frilly socks with white patent leather shoes, and a bonnet for church and the early family dinner.  And I’ll never lose the competitive spirit that made me a top prize-winner at the town Easter egg hunt.

Since I grew up in the very place that my mother and both her mother and father were raised, I know for certain that these very traditions go back generations.

With the arrival of Sebastian and blossoming of my own family, I embrace these traditions and have adopted some of Leo’s too.  We’ve even added a few of our own.

Bubba Cotton Tail

If you haven’t noticed, we’ll use any excuse to put Sebastian and Mapu in costumes and Easter is no exception!  Who needs an Easter bonnet when you can be the Easter bunny?  Instead of chocolate, our bunny gives hugs and wet kisses!

With family all over the globe, unfortunately dinner can no longer include everyone.  But with the evolution of technology, we have a Skype date with the grandparents that we don’t get to see and the sharing of photos and anecdotes via email, Facebook, and now Twitter.  It helps make our world feel a little cozier and eases the heartache of not being able to share each special moment with everyone.

What are your favorite traditions and how have you made them your own?

MARK & JAMES

Last week was a stylish one, filled with fab fashion-related events. From a private preview of A Pea in the Pod’s Fall 2011 Collection at the Waldorf, to debut parties for Lucky Kids, Stella McCartney Kids, and Fendi’s Children’s Wear line, I have a long wish-list of the latest designer duds!

It all started with what was supposed to be a quick trip to Long Island to see two of my all-time favorite red carpet designers, Mark Badgley and James Mischka.

When Yakini from Style Me Prissy and The Prissy Mommy Chronicles alerted me that they were appearing at Nordstrom, Roosevelt Field Mall with their Mark & James Spring/Summer 2011 line of footwear, I decided come hell or high water, I would get out to see them.

I evaded high water but wasn’t as fortunate with the hell part.

First, I was pulled over at a random State Trooper checkpoint just outside the mall’s parking lot and issued a ticket for an expired inspection.  Then, not 10 minutes later, still flustered from the ticket and late, I smacked my side view mirror into another car’s just steps from the entrance to Nordstrom. Yep, it was that kind of day.

I could have retreated back to the city but at that point, what more could happen?  So I wiped away my tears (oh yes, there was a runny, Lauren Conrad, mascara cry) and in true Glamamom fashion strutted in and up to the men of the hour.

Don’t we make the cutest black blazer/white shirt sandwich?

Mark and James could not have been cooler or more worth the effort. I would have forgiven them had they been the least bit uptight about autographing duster bags in a suburban mall but they were genuinely warm and friendly.  Their PR guy is my neighbor and when I mentioned it to Mark he whipped out his phone and called him so we could all share a laugh.

They took the time to answer my countless questions about celebrities (Mark likes working with Beyonce. She’s just so warm and fun!) and their all-time favorite red carpet moments (Mark’s is the beaded, cream and lace Oscar gown worn by Winona Ryder in 1996 and James’ is the lavender, cowl neck gown worn by Halle Berry in 2001.)

They also remembered this teal Badgley Mischka I wore to a wedding last spring and showed me their favorites from the casual, affordable, but equally stylish, Mark & James Spring/Summer 2011 footwear line:

It was well worth the effort and yet another reason to be excited about the impending warm weather.

Anything for fashion, right?

TOP OF THE MORNIN’

You may have noticed America’s #1 morning show, TODAY, has a new and improved website, TODAY.com.

Early last month, I joined fellow bloggers and hostesses Kathie Lee Gifford & Hoda Kotb, for breakfast at 30 Rock to celebrate its unveiling.

In addition to the fresh new design and layout, TODAY.com now offers videos from the morning’s live segments, as well as exclusive online content.

I adore these ladies and am tuned in to TODAY every morning as I start mine, so it was surreal and exciting to be sitting atop the Plaza taking part in the launch.

Kathie Lee kept us entertained of course, questioning, Is there alcohol here? upon arrival.  Clearly, we’re kindred spirits.  While it wasn’t the first thing I asked, it was certainly the first thing I thought after my early wake-up call and when I learned I’d be talking about what I do each day to feel more glamorous, on camera, for TODAYMoms.

You can watch Nicole’s (Momtrends), Mary’s (The Mommyologist), and my Glamorous Advice for Moms here.

Please share if you do something special each day that makes you feel more glamorous.

A little glamour goes a long way!

THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR RIDIN’ {& A DENIM GIVEAWAY}***CLOSED***

Every Glamamom needs a good pair of English riding boots in her wardrobe.

Practical yet stylish, riding boots with leggings or jeans has been my uniform all winter long.

Having attended parochial school from first grade up until college, I didn’t really have to think about dressing myself until then.  Not only did my little uniform make me Hit Me Baby One More Time- sexy, but it saved me a tremendous amount of time and effort in the mornings.  And while I love expressing myself through fashion, I pretty much still stick to a uniform during the day, especially when I’m hanging out with Sebastian and don’t have a moment’s peace.

Always in the market for a good boot, I was happy to have a peek at Ariat International’s Fall 2011 line of authentic English and Western equestrian footwear and apparel.

I must have these for fall play dates (and maybe a plaid pair of rain boots too)…

Ariat International Fall 2011

If you’re into the Western aesthetic, they make the cutest cowgirl boots (in both women’s and girl’s to match!):

I’m also digging the accessories.  Here I am playing dress up with the Snowflake belt and the very Jennifer Aniston-chic, Bristol Braid.

Lastly, Ariat featured its equestrian-inspired apparel, including a new men’s and women’s denim line:
