A typical runway show lasts about 5 minutes, a mere fraction of the time it takes to prepare for the presentation. With only one chance to make a first impression, styling is everything and hair and make-up play an integral roll in the overall look and feel of the collection.
Ouidad, known as the Queen of the Curl, invited us for a peek behind the curtains last night to see how her team was creating an urban meets beachy, 60′s/70′s look with up-dos, low, twisted ponies, and loose curls for the Timo Weiland Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear Show. “It’s Basquiat goes to Hawaii, goes surfing, and invites all his cool downtown city girls as guests,” Weiland explained.
How do you get that natural but sophisticated look? Ouidad recommends Climate Control & Humidity Gel, her styling aid that works with the humidity to be the ultimate frizz preventer.
James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry spearheaded make-up for the show with a lot of contouring, a strong, windblown cheek, bruised pink lip, and a little shimmer for perspiration.
