Dressing up the bump has come a long way, even since I was pregnant just 2 years ago.
Glamamoms have spoken and it’s clear we want the same go-to designer brands and chic style, whether pregnant or not.
Earlier this week, I saw the Spring 2012 collections for Destination Maternity– A Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity, and seriously want every single thing, that’s how on trend the clothes are. A Pea in the Pod’s collaborations with brands like Theory, BCBG, French Connection, and Hudson, have produced a full line of high-quality, sophisticated, maternity-wear, from evening gowns to lingerie and swimsuits. Motherhood Maternity, the company’s more affordable line, boasts classic, feminine silhouettes that are both stylish and comfortable but won’t break the bank.
The head designer for A Pea in the Pod told me how they carefully watch the runways and monitor trend reports but design specifically to flatter a woman’s pregnant body. When a trend doesn’t work, like neck tie blouses or boyfriend blazers, they put it aside to focus on the pieces that do.
Key trends to incorporate into your Spring wardrobe:
(1) Color. All the beautiful jewel tones, color-blocking, and bright jeans are back:
(2) Prints, both subtle and bold:
(3) Glam! While last year paid homage to the 70′s hippie, this season it’s 70′s glam:

(4) And easy to mix and match soft neutrals:
If you’re due before Spring, these Fall and Holiday pieces are equally swoon-worthy and incorporate some of my favorite trends of the season like polka dots, python, and pumpkin spice:
How do you feel about maternity clothes? Love/hate or love/love?

I saw such a difference even between Kate and Maddie, and now that Maddie’s 3, the stuff is even cuter than it was my 2nd time around!
I love the warm jewel tones this season. And? That 70′s glam dress is super cute!

LOVE everything you featured…gorgeous..they certainly have come a long way! I didn’t really turn to maternity (i wore old navy maxi’s through the entire summer when I was HUGE) but nice to know for clients and possibly my 2nd time around:)
I will say, nice to see this post, I am reviewing a maternity lingerie line next week..and felt a little funny, not being pregnant, but the product is SO super amazing, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to tell my readers (who are pregnant or nursing) about it.
Hope you have a great weekend…Off to celebrate my 32nd bday (sigh) with a group of my favorite people in Philadelphia….Parents night OUT!!!! C

Pea in the Pod always has great maternity wear. I remember when I was preggers with Ariyana I was still wearing high heels and boots and wanted to remain stylish and thanks to some of the lovely items at Pea in a Pod I was able to enjoy getting dressed during pregnancy! This makes me want to be pregnant again!

Okay, these clothes are SO cute and fashionable! I loved wearing maternity clothes…. some of these things really make me want to be pregnant again (not kidding).
I am in love with those sequined dresses (particularly the one shouldered one). If I were preg this winter I’d totally buy it.

Gorgeous clothes. It’s amazing how far maternity wear has come. I had my oldest 7 years ago and at the time my older sister gave me her maternity clothes from ten years prior. OMG! All the clothes looked like tents with ruffles! Eeeesh!

I love their clothes, so stylish. You don’t have to look drabby when you’re pregnant anymore!

I love maternity clothes. The trick is finding brands that flatter your body because I did try on some really ugly clothes when I shopped while pregnant. The most important purchase for me was when I finally found a pair of flattering maternity jeans!

Yeah, I did not do maternity fashion well. There is such pretty stuff here (except for colored jeans – I can’t do that again!). I’ve always loved that pumpkin color – beautiful!
