Cosmopolitan Magazine searched far and wide for 51 bachelors to vie for title of “Bachelor of the Year 2011″ and hosted its annual Bachelor Party last night at Arena to celebrate and crown a winner.
One by one, the twenty-somethings nervously danced around stage as Kate White, editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan, announced their names and home states. I felt like quite the cougar critiquing and jeering at them but apparently past bachelors met and went on to marry women they met at this very event, so really I was there as a matchmaker of sorts.
When it was all said and done, Chris Van Vliet of Cleveland, Ohio was voted Bachelor of the Year, the third year in row for Ohio. In presidential elections Ohio is a swing state but Bachelor of the Year, and they’re a united front. Van Vliet graciously donated his $10,000 prize money to the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland.
I personally like Mr. Nebraska. Twenty-five, an engineering grad student who considers himself athletic, laid-back, and intelligent, and he can do it while driving on the Interstate. As a mom, I really appreciate a fellow multi-tasker.
So tell me, who would you have chosen from the list of bachelors? Just because you’re on a diet doesn’t mean you can’t have a bite. That’s how that saying goes, right?
