During the Food Network’s NYC Wine & Food Festival last week, AOL Huffington Post Media Group hosted a retreat at the Dream Downtown Hotel with events and activities for both children and adults emphasizing a healthier, happier, more balanced lifestyle.
Since I can always use more balance, we stopped in Sunday afternoon for story time with Arianna Huffington herself, just as she began addressing the crowd. As to not disturb the reading (and make a quick getaway if we needed to), we sat down by the exit. It’s always a crapshoot bringing Sebastian to events full of people. If he’s in a bad mood, he’ll demand we “GO!” immediately. But when I motioned for him to be quiet and pointed to the book Ms. Huffington was about to read, he hopped off my lap, casually made his way through the sea of eager children, and planted himself right in Ms. Huffington’s lap, much to everyone’s delight:
I won’t lie, I had tears in my eyes the entire time and kept exchanging looks of astonishment with Leo. What can I say about this kid? He’s truly an original.
