It’s not every day we get the opportunity to work out with one of the most sought after celebrity trainers, so Cousin Kat and I jumped at the chance to join Lady Foot Locker at the launch of New Balance’s Minimus Zero Collection for a private boot camp session with fitness and nutrition expert, Harley Pasternak.

I’m no stranger to boot camp workouts.  After Bubba was born, I spent 3 days a week for 3 months at Pure Power attempting to get back into shape but that was 2 years and 10+ pounds ago.  I was a little nervous about keeping up with a group of fitness bloggers but I’ve been working with a trainer since November and feel like I’m in decent shape, for post-baby me at least.

Since Glamamoms perform best in cute clothes, we were outfitted in comfy New Balance gear including the awesome new Minimus ZERO DROP sneakers in teal, which are the lightest weight I’ve ever worn.  With more foot movement and ground feel, they work leg muscles I never even knew I had.

Pasternak led us in a short but demanding workout of drills that rotated between walking squats and shuffling, arm curls with his own “Harley Bar,” planking, jumping, and jogging, to a soundtrack of his A-list clients including: Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Kesha. I was definitely huffing and puffing and mega-sore the next couple of days but today I feel great and am super inspired by Pasternak’s recommendations.

We took home two of his books: The 5-Factor Diet and the newly released The 5-Factor World Diet, which outline Pasternak’s 5-Factor principles– five meals a day, five core ingredients, and five-minute prep-times.  They also include great recipes and pantry-stocking tips.

I love trying new workouts and it’s always a treat to gain insight into how celebs maintain those rock hard bodies.  Thanks to Lady Foot Locker, New Balance, and Harley Pasternak for having us, and to Warrior Fitness Boot Camp for hosting.

  5. I’ve worked out with Harley years ago (here in L.A.) pre-baby. Yeah, that was back when I had stamina. Those were the days.

  10. This is so cool! I’ve never worked out with a trainer before and it’s always something that I wanted to try. Do they kick your ass, but in a good way? And I love the teal kicks.

      Yes, in a good way. I had a chance to speak with Harley after the workout and he mentioned how much more efficient it is to work one on one with a trainer, rather than a group. That way they can address form and tailor a workout specifically for your needs. It’s expensive but worth it to get back on track/learn what you should be doing.

  16. I love bootcamp! I tried last spring for 3 months and was so fit I couldn’t believe it. I was running when I was not known to run anything more than a minute. Now I work out alone since the trainner moved away..
