Glam Summer Hostess Gift Idea

I’m mildly obsessed with One Kings Lane.  I browse once a day, sometimes twice, to ogle the beautiful furnishings and vintage finds.  Okay, maybe it’s a full-on obsession after all.  The first step is admitting you have a problem, right?

I just like to imagine a lifestyle where several china patterns and sets of flatware are positively necessary and toddlers color on 17th-century Spanish Colonial vargueños.  Plus, the site offers great interior design and gift inspiration.

Coincidentally, they’re having a sale on lanterns through Monday, which I was just coveting for my terrace while putting together this Fourth of July inspiration post.  That’s where I spied this adorable hostess gift idea:

The next time you’re invited to a barbecue or cocktail party, tote a lantern filled with bar essentials. Include a bottle of the hosts’ favorite tipple, beverage napkins, straws, a bar snack, fresh fruit, a mixer, and a citrus reamer.

Packaging as part of the gift is always a winner and while lanterns provide a chic summer vibe, candles are not the most practical gifts for parents so this is a great alternative.  If alcohol’s not your thing (or your hosts’), I think it would work just as well with flowers, seashells, salt water taffy or whatever little gifts you think your hosts would appreciate.
