I’m not sure who was more excited to see The Fresh Beat Band live at The Beacon Theatre, Sebastian or me. Although, I’ve since moved on while he asks every day when we’re going back.
We didn’t originally purchase tickets since Lucas’ arrival was unknown but Tuesday’s show was added at the last minute and I just happened to see the announcement. It was a much-needed date for Bubba and mama.
Not surprisingly, Sebastian is still adjusting to being a big brother. He turned 3 earlier this month and I can see the confusion he’s experiencing in his eyes and more notably, in his behavior. As much as we’ve tried to make him feel special and soften the blow of sharing attention, there are some things I just didn’t expect and don’t always know how to make easier for him. Like when the UPS guy delivers gifts for Lucas or when I pull out his old baby gear and he asks why and if it still belongs to him. Not to mention that I’m nursing what feels like every time he walks into the room or comes home from school.
Now that Sebastian has his own busy schedule with pre-school and after-school programs, we’re going to have to carve out time for one-on-one activities, like the old days (sniff). I’m really happy I was able to sneak away and see the show with him, just the two of us.
The concert is exactly as its portrayed in the Nick Jr. commercials promoting the tour. The deliriously happy cast sang their hearts out, danced up a storm, and flashed their big smiles the entire time they were on stage. It was short and sweet (about 90 minutes total) with a roughly 30 minute intermission to buy the requisite glow sticks, t-shirts, and other crap that will end up broken at the bottom of the toy box. We made it home before either of my boobs exploded and added another great day to our growing list of memories, the first for Sebastian as a big brother and me as a Glamamom of two.

When we saw yo gabba gabba, I think the hubby and I were more excited than the kids. I know it’s a huge adjustment to have another baby. We just had our third and there is always that guilt of feeling like the attention is spread so thin. I try my best to spend time with each of them but its sooo hard with a needy baby. I try to see it like this, when they grow up they will be so much happier together than if they were an only child. My hubby was an only child and although he had everyone’s attention, he didn’t have nearly as much fun as I did-I was one of three. Congrats on your new baby!!
