Happy Monday Ladies! Hope you had a great weekend.
We’re slowly emerging from our cocoon, although I think we’re still in the honeymoon phase and I expect things to get more manic before we experience any normalcy.
My little Lucas mostly slept his first two weeks on the outside which thankfully allowed me to recuperate rather quickly. This weekend was a completely different story but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it was an anomaly and he’ll go easy on us.
The weather in NYC has been glorious. It’s the kind of weather everyone always talks about but we only experience a few weeks each year. While I remember being scared to take Sebastian out when he was this age, I haven’t had much of a choice with Lucas. Sebastian started pre-school last week and we’ve been getting outside a fair amount. I find he sleeps better after some fresh air and I feel less cagey. Plus, we received this gorgeous new Stokke Xplory to review. It’s the most luxurious stroller I’ve ever laid eyes on. Practically, I have both positive feedback and things that I think can be improved so I’ll write up a full review with specs as soon as I can but you’ll notice from the photo of my sleeping prince, he’s certainly comfy!
I’d forgotten what pain it is to dress when you have to whip out your boobs every couple of hours. I’ve mostly been sticking to tanks and button downs for easy access.
Last pregnancy I lived in leggings but when I met with Style for Hire at the Westfield Style Lounge at Garden State Plaza and asked about postpartum fashion, they poo-pooed leggings and stretch pants in favor of jeans and dresses because their lack of structure doesn’t allow you to feel when you’re over-eating or gaining weight, which I think is a great point that I’ll try to keep in mind this time around.
Any postpartum fashion tips you’d like to share?
Have a glamorous week!

Omg, 2 weeks post-partum??? You look incredible, girl! No, like, seriously you look fab!
Yeah, i kind of rotated the same 4-5 front wrap tops because it was just so easy to pull it down and nurse at any given moment. It became a little harder when i went back to work and needed to pump, because most of my work wardrobe didnt consist of breastfeeding-friendly tops/dresses.

They’re so right about the lack of structure. It’s definitely easy for me to overeat when I’m nursing. And your back in jeans?? I can’t even pull mine up past my knees. Hahaha! You look FABulous!

You look amazing! I so agree that leggings/yoga pants are too forgiving – I had to break down & buy some new jeans (without looking at the size!). And he is such a cutie, congrats lady!

You look amazing!! Two weeks and you’re already fitting into jeans – you’re my hero. The Prada bag is fab, and little Lucas is so precious – I can eat him up!

Hi lady…well the parallel lives continue…Preston was a dream the first two weeks…slept mostly and just up to feed and look around a bit….this past weekend…he is eating like every 2 1/2 hours and not sleeping much during the night…no 4 or 5 hour stretches for me….I am hoping it is a growing pain/phase. Isn’t it amazing how quickly you are out and about..I wouldn’t take Connor anywhere for over a month…this time week 2 and I have my newborn at the freaking Jersey Shore boardwalk…it is just impossible with an almost 3 year old to stay in the house all the time.
You look great!!! Love that stroller- and of course that lil man of yours is delicious! Hope you are feeling well…
Although I agree that structure can be good…csection recovery leaves your lower stomach extremely sensitive so leggings and maxis and NO structure is actually a good thing for me. I say, wear whatever feels good at this point, no?

Personally, I’m all for the leggings for at least the first month after pregnancy. I give myself until the 6-week postpartum check-up before I really start to cut back on the comfy clothes. I loved giving birth in the summer because all I wore were susana monaco dresses that were cute but forgiving. Winter was harder, but giant sweaters with glamourmom tanks underneath were my go-to. You look fantastic btw!!!

Jill, he’s absolutely precious! Just want to nibble on him!
And I love that stroller! So cool looking!
As for nursing tops, I’m with Yakini. I switched back and forth between a bunch of nursing wrap tops while my ladies were in constant feeding mode. It was easy access plus the whole slimming factor of the wrap made me feel slightly better about my largeness!
