Last night before bed, I wrapped Lucas in the Zen Swaddle, a new swaddle blanket from Nested Bean, a mom-owned company created to find solutions to common parenting problems. I can hardly believe it but it actually made a difference and we had the longest uninterrupted sleep since Luke was born (nearly 5 hours).
I’d been using other swaddles but he mostly struggled to get his arms out (and often succeeded). I think the difference is that Zen Swaddle is designed to mimic touch and give babies the sensation that they’re being held.
It has three lightly weighted areas—one on top and two on the sides—in the areas my hands would be if I were either cradling him or placing a reassuring hand on his chest.
The idea came to Nested Bean founder Manasi Gangan during the long hours of holding her own younger son. He never slept unless she was holding him and finally, out of desperation, she fashioned what would later be refined into the Zen Swaddle.
I also like that it’s designed for arms in or out and has an interior leg pouch making it two sizes in one, so that it grows with your baby.
Aesthetically, it’s adorable. The soft white color with green stitching is calm and neutral and the material is 100% cotton and washable. Technically, it’s a piece of cake wrap but comes with easy to follow instructions as well.

I would love to get my hands on this swaddle. I am pregnant with #2 and I am starting to mentally prepare for the long nights ahead! My 2 year old thankfully is a great sleeper and km hoping the new one will be the same! We swaddled my son until 6 months and I was always looking for the new, great, break- through free swaddle! Swaddling was the only way my girls could sleep! Its nice that there are products now a days to make swaddling easier (none when my 9yo was a babe). And PS, Lucas is tooo cute. Can’t wait to meet him, Jill.

I also follow Nested Bean Inc. on facebook. I love the idea of swaddling my baby. I am pregnant right now with my second baby. My first never did sleep well and kicked and flailed most of the night. By the time anyone told me about swaddling, my son was already too big to wrap up all cozy. I definitely plan on swaddling this new one and am absolutely amazed at the design of the Zen Swaddle!
