With winter upon us, it’s time to rethink my skincare regimen. As if the change in season isn’t enough to wreak havoc on my skin, it has to contend with frigid air, bone chilling wind, artificial heat, and holiday stress! Oh, and lots and lots of hot chocolate.
Adding moisture is key for me in the winter months. While I tend to be oily in the summer and only wear a tinted moisturizer with SPF, in the colder months I apply night cream before bed. I’m currently using Simple Skincare’s Vital Vitamin Night Cream.
There’s been a lot of buzz about Simple Skincare. It’s the UK’s #1 skincare line and it launched in the US earlier this year. The entire line is designed for sensitive skin and offers a variety of different products for every skincare need, from facial cleansers and wipes, to moisturizers and eye care. The ingredients are…simple. No dyes, artificial perfumes or harsh irritants, all at mass market pricing.
While I’m a total beauty junkie, I’m always weary of testing new skincare products for fear of how my skin will react. I’m not super sensitive but I am prone to breakouts. The first few nights I used the Vital Vitamin Night Cream I woke up more oily than usual, which makes sense — my skin was adjusting to the added moisture. But I didn’t break out, likely because the product is free of harsh additives.
The formula is a tad thicker than a standard moisturizer but lighter than your typical night cream. It goes on smooth, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t feel the slightest bit greasy. The jar is a compact, 1.7 oz, great for holiday travel.
I’ve also been using the Moisturizing Facial Wash (which made my list of Fall/Winter’s Best Beauty Products) and the Replenishing Rich Moisturizer (which I’d previously been using at night) and recommend both.
If you’d like to try the line for yourself, you can save up to $5 on Simple Skincare at Walmart.com. Play the “Simple Match Game” (which I did; it takes 30 seconds), and you can unlock a $2 coupon for all facial cleansers and a $3 coupon for all moisturizes and eye care products.
