Glam Beauty Board Winter 2012 Beauty Reviews

I'm thrilled to join "NgWu1b." target="_blank">Glam.com's Beauty Board Winter 2012-- a group of beauty bloggers handpicked by the network to review its seasonal favorites.

I've been busy putting the products to the Glamamom test, several of which also make great holiday gifts and stocking stuffers. Here's how they fared:

1. Philosophy Living Grace Spray Fragrance ($42): The newest in Philosophy's line of ethereal fragrances, Living Grace is formulated to help center a woman's mood, enabling her to fully embrace the beauty of living in the present moment each day, something I think we all struggle with, especially moms. It contains fresh neroli, Lily of the Valley, and warm musk, to create a soft, calming, and clean scent. I'm typically not a fan of gifting fragrance but I think Living Grace is soft enough to have universal appeal and the minimalist packaging and bottle are feminine and elegant.

2. Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash Mascara Black ($19): I'm perpetually on the hunt for the perfect mascara. A formula thick enough to tame and sculpt my lashes without leaving clumps. Well, Buxom Lash Mascara from Bare Escentuals is a pleasant surprise and rivals any formula I've ever used. The spiral wand helps curl the lashes as you apply and avoid any chunky excess. Bonus points for the cute name!

3. Susan Posnick ColorEssential Lipsticks in "London" & "Santa Fe" ($19 each): The beauty of these shades is that they can easily be worn day or night. The formulas are hydrating and super glossy without being sticky. Oh, and the top of the tube is magnetic, which is genius. No more rogue caps! I'm wearing "London" here.

4. Physician's Formula: pH Matchmaker Powered Makeup Blush, "Rose" ($8): The formula senses your pH level and adjusts in less than a minute to create your perfect glow. The hue "Rose" that I reviewed is "pinker" than I normally wear and looked heavy at first but it did become more subtle as it adjusted. If you're looking for a bold cheek, which is very much on trend, this color is a great option. It also has a slight sparkle. Its LED-powered compact lights up and as a full-size mirror for touch-ups on the go.

5. Vichy Laborotoires ProEVEN Daily Dark Spot Corrector ($44): Fortunately, I don't have too many dark spot on my face but with each pregnancy I gained a ton of new freckles and spots on my décolletage. ProEven left my skin luminous and toned and I'm hoping the longer I use it, and further I get from pregnancy hormones, the more even my skin tone will look.

6. Too Faced Limited Edition Glamour To Go, Spun Sugar Edition ($17): My favorite stocking stuffer of the bunch, this gorgeous little compact with mirror contains all the essentials for the Glamamom on-the-go: an array of eye shadows for any look, highlighter, bronzer, and lip gloss. It's the perfect palette for winter travels.

7. Philosophy Dual-Action Restoring Cream for Volume and Lift ($53): A moisturizing cream for day or night to restore volume and lift, it features a unique protein recycling complex that helps promote visibly firmer, fuller, uplifted skin. A little goes a long way and after only a few applications, I really am noticing tigthening.

I've been seeing China Glaze all over the place, undoubtedly due to it's bold line of shades but this is the first time I've tried it. "With Love" is a gorgeous shade of red for the holidays and "Pizzazz" will add just the right amount of sparkle to your mani. I layered it over a greige color for a festive yet elegant look. Pizzazz's sparkles are a little clumpy upon application but even out with a top coat. A must-try this holiday season, either at the cuticle line or the tip of the nail. What color(s) would you pair a little shimmer with?

9. Almay Intense I-Color Liquid Shadow Color Primer ($7): I recently got into primers. It's one of those products that made me think, "Do I really need another product in my makeup bag?" But then I tried it and realized how much smoother my eye makeup goes on and blends, and lasts throughout the day. I love that Almay's I-Color Liquid Shadow is tinted with a slight sparkle so that it can be worn underneath powder shadow or on its own. If you're not sure what shade will work best for you, the line is based on eye color. I tried green and it looks great with my blue eyes.

10. Almay Intense I-Color Powder Shadow ($5): I mostly wear earth tones and neutrals, especially during the day so this palette will be my go-to. It has a diagram with numbers to achieve a rich, multidimensional eye, even if you're makeup challenged.

11. Burt's Bees Ultimate Care Hand Cream ($15): ‘Tis the season for chapped hands. I keep a stash of hand creams all over the place and am happy to add Burt’s to the mix. It moisturizes and absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue. Makes a great personal gift for teachers and sitters too.

12. Umberto Beverly Hills Repair Treatment Masque ($10): Winter can be just as brutal on the hair and scalp as summer is. I highly recommend using an at-home treatment masque on occasion to maintain your mane. The first time I tried Umberto's repair masque, I left it in for the recommended 20 minutes, which might be the right amount of time for color-treated or really damaged hair but it was too long for my oily-prone tresses. The second time around, I used it like a conditioner, leaving it in for about 3 to 5 minutes and it was the perfect amount of time. My hair was shiny but still had volume and movement. I just got a long overdue haircut and this masque will go a long way in maintaining its shine throughout the colder months.

13. Almay Smart Shade Mousse Makeup: New to the market, this creamy foundation has pigment capsules that create a self-adjusted shade to match any skin type. Since the number one makeup issue women have is matching foundation color to their natural skin tone, self-adjusted makeup is a great idea. I tried "Light to Medium" which has a gold tint to it. I typically use a more yellow formula to even out the redness in my skin.

14. Goldfaden MD Pure Start Gentle Detoxifying Facial Cleanser ($32): Formulated with wheat protein to increase firmness and retain moisture, this clear gel-like cleanser gets the job done, exfoliating and removing makeup in one step without drying.
