At the start of the holiday season, Sebastian was invited to take part in a photo shoot with "TMrOTE" target="_blank">Target, showcasing its versatile, affordable, and utterly adorable kids' clothing and accessories.

I picked up some practical and economical styling tips that have been instrumental in helping me prepare my boys for all the upcoming festivities. Christmas is less than 2 weeks away! Are you ready?!

(1) Add layers. Layering clothes in the winter months is key for kiddos as they're constantly moving from indoors out and vice versa. Since temperatures can vary drastically from one activity to another, hooded sweatshirts, cardigans, vests and shrugs are great investments. They can be put on or taken off quickly and easily mixed and matched to create different looks.

Most importantly for the holidays, layers can add color and texture to an outfit, making it more fun and festive like the stylist did for Sebastian with a funky hoodie layered over a bright-colored t-shirt in the first photo and a patterned cardigan over a classic white Cherokee button down in the second.

(2) Accessorize! There's no better way to be holiday appropriate for church, recitals, parties, and family photos than adding a little sparkle or polish. Glittery shoes and bags, hair accessories, belts, bow ties and neck ties are simple, inexpensive additions that make ordinary outfits extraordinary. The colorful checkered bow tie Sebastian is wearing is a real standout for me and upped the adorability factor.

(3) Choose comfortable, foolproof pieces your child can manage on his own to create his own personal style. This is easily accomplished with great accessories and layers but also with pieces they can slip/pull on and off on their own. With a relatively newly potty trained toddler, this is essential for us. If you have a little fashionista that likes to make styling decisions, the easiest way to avoid contention over what's appropriate and what's not, is to provide an arsenal of versatile choices that she can mix and match (control) on her own.

(4) You don't have to spend a fortune for your little ones to look like movie stars. I've consistently tried to drive this point home here on Glamamom as I've reviewed many different children's wear lines over the years from consignment pieces to designer collections. Styling is everything.

If you follow the above tips and play around with colors, patterns, and textures, you'll be surprised how luxe an outfit you can create on any budget. I was so impressed with the clothing Target provided for the shoot including pieces from Cherokee, Shaun White, D-Signed by Disney, and Harjuku Mini, that fit all different personality types. Cool clothes kids love at prices parents love.

Sebastian's become quite accustomed to having his picture taken and not so secretly loves being the center of attention, as evidenced by that little smirk! The crew at shootdigital studio was amazingly patient and accommodating. Most had never even worked with kids before. Nevertheless, there was an abundance of toys on set, fun music, delicious snacks, rad clothes, and most importantly, hair and makeup! What more could a 3-year old model ask for?

I'm thrilled with how the photos turned out and will look back fondly on the entire experience. Sebastian's outfits are festive, comfortable, and age appropriate, all at prices that make sense for a boy that plays hard and is growing like a weed. Target's children's wear most definitely gets the Glamamom seal of approval!

A big thanks to Target for sponsoring this campaign. Click here to see more of the discussion on children's holiday fashion.
