In exactly 25 days, 18 hours, and 30 minutes we'll be celebrating Christmas in our new home, with both sides of the family. Not that I'm counting or anything.

My inlaws and sister-in-law are flying in from Chicago to stay here with us (a nice change from overpriced, postage stamp-sized, Manhattan hotel rooms) and my extended family will be joining us on Christmas Eve for our annual family holiday gathering.

The idea of having all our loved ones under one roof makes my heart swell. Also, my head. Preparing for guests is no easy task and we still have quite a few boxes to unpack and are anxiously awaiting furniture arrivals. Not to mention our two dogs and two little boys, who make it nearly impossible to keep a spotless home. I'm not aiming for perfection but a little less dog hair and rogue Cheerios would go a long way.

One cleaning solution recommended to me for quick clean up is the Swiffer BISSELL SteamBoost. The majority of our house is hardwood floors (completely rug-less at the moment) and the lightweight steam mop is perfectly safe for the finished wood flooring.

I'm thrilled with how our floors turned out after we had them sanded and restained before moving in. For our Manhattan apartment we chose a dark, elegant stain color (a mix of Ebony and Jacobean). For the house, I wanted to go in a completely different direction-- lighter, brighter, and very casual. We chose the Early American stain from Minwax and our oak floors responded exactly how I imagined.

What I like best about the SteamBoost is that all I have to do is fill the little tank with water, attach a Steam Pad, and plug it in for a quick clean-up. No other cleaning solution is needed. The Steam Pads have a steam activated solution built right in that pulls dirt up into the pad and locks it away. The SteamBoost is so easy to use, Sebastian has been having a field day with it.

Having an inexpensive and quick solution for the inevitable spills and messes gives me one less thing to worry about this holiday season and more time to focus on what matters most.
