I’d never been as much into New Year’s resolutions as I am now that I’m a mom.  Especially after an eventful year.  You may have noticed I took a little break from blogging.  I wanted to be fully present during the holidays and also to think through what I want to accomplish this year both personally and professionally.

As cliche as it sounds, losing my baby weight (from both pregnancies, unfortunately) and getting back into shape is very much a priority.  I really wish it weren’t a thing but it is and I know I’ll feel a million times better energy and style-wise if I just commit to more exercise and eating better.  I’ve always loved running so it’s not that big a deal but winter in the city is tough and I’ve never been a gym rat.  Although, Leo was on vacation these past few weeks and we shook up our routines with classes at Barry’s Boot Camp and Flywheel, which I kind of enjoyed.  It’s really all about motivation for me and simply getting out the door.

The urge often comes from little things like downloading new music and putting on some cute gear.  I’m also trying to make workout dates to catch up with friends rather than just coffee or drinks.  I know.  Who am I?  I hardly recognize myself either but it has to be done.  Looking six month pregnant has lost its novelty.

A related goal is to continue to cook more at home, as opposed to ordering in so much.  Chobani sent us a ton of its Greek yogurt to use as a substitution for butter, oil, and sour cream and I’ve been tackling some of their recipes, which I’m really proud of.

I’ll do my best to keep you posted.  One of the benefits of blogging is the accountability so I’m excited to put it out there.

What about you?  Did you make an resolutions for the year ahead?

If you’re joining us for #MondayMingle, welcome to the first link-up of 2013!  One participant this week will win the new StriVectin-SH Advanced Overnight Resurfacing Serum (a $79 value) that’s launching on QVC Friday, January 18th.

I’m resolving to eat more lean protein and calcium. It’s not a huge change, but an important one as I am aging. I love the workout gear and hope we can set a running date soon. Wednesdays are always good for me and I can run over the Brooklyn Bridge to meet you when I get back from Paris.

Jill, I think you look awesome, but I know that can sound empty when the mirror doesn’t agree. I don’t have a true resolution this year, and rather an overall goal to be a better me, a better mom, a better wife. Part of that is to get in shape. I don’t need to lose weight, but I am in desperate need of getting into a regular fitness routine. Love your workout gear – wearing cute gear can be a fitness motivator, right?

Funny, I looked at that picture of you and thought, I can’t believe she just had a baby! I think you look great already. :-) BUT I also know that we are our own worst critics and that every 5 lbs matters A LOT to how we feel. It’s a constant battle as we age, but it’s so worth it. I have developed a passion for running and working out, and I agree that cute clothes and a fresh playlist goes a LONG way to keeping the momentum going. I love the idea of running playdates. I can’t wait to hear about your progress!

You look great in your workout gear! I’m learning to live fresh and especially drink more water! Being a mom and running all day I forget to – crazy huh???

You look great in that color!

I need to work on getting healthier too, but this year I’ve decided to make goals for myself each month. This month it’s getting organized. I feel like once I do that I’ll be able to give my full attention to the other things I want to accomplish– like losing the chub!

That’s a really great idea. I’m totally in clean-out mode myself which is another reason I haven’t been blogging. I can be a huge procrastinator and after Christmas we were busting at the seams with new toys etc. Good luck Jen!!

First off, you look great and I’m loving your workout gear! Much more stylish than the t-shirt and worn out running pants I rock. I love the idea of workout dates with girlfriends. I find that with kids in the mix, it is harder and harder to coordinate time with friends. I like the idea of working out and then grabbing a cup of coffee instead of coordinating calendars around lunch or dinner. And thanks for the link up!

I don’t usually make many resolutions, but I do try to set some attainable and trackable goals for myself for the course of the year! This year, a lot of them will be blog/creative related…

I always get extra motivated when my workout gear is FABULOUS! I just love putting it on and strutting out the door. The best part are the shoes. There are so many great colors out there now that are stylish.

I need to follow your lead – too many cookies have led to too much muffin-top! It’s time to be more sensible (as soon as all the cookies in the freezer are gone)!

Sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck! I love Chobani in green smoothies.

Recipe here (just add 1/2c yogurt):

And here’s my 2-cents on eating healthy on the go:

I’m a pretty healthy eater and I love to eat fresh. Right now I’m loving the cold weather because I can make a big pot of soup on the weekends and refrigerate or freeze the leftovers for lunches in the coming week.

for the record, you DO NOT LOOK 6 months pregnant. but i hear you. had my baby in august and i too am saying ‘ok, it’s time to just nip this weight in the bud (or butt, as it may be).’ it’s so hard to get out of the house and exercising, but i’m trying to stay committed and not allow baby (and sleep training) to get in the way. good luck!

I am on the same focus as we call beast mode! There is something freeing about New Years…you get to dream and essentially allow yourself to start over…I love the pressure! and I love your workout gear! For me putting on cute workout clothes a little lip gloss and taking a before picture sooo puts me in the mood and gets me going! Good for you Happy New Year!

I think I need an outfit like this one to get me fit, haha. I noticed you liked Megan’s beauty DIY recipes. I have loads of them (and lots of other fun stuff) on my blog, if you’d like to visit one day.

I totally agree about workout gear and music motivating you. During the winter I run on the treadmill but having new music is always a bonus. I love the colour of your jacket.
