This past weekend was probably the last relaxing one we'll have for the rest of the year.

The calm before the storm.

Saturday, we lunched at Primehouse with friends visiting from Philly. Primehouse is a pricey steakhouse on Park Avenue South but has a super reasonable brunch and kid's menu. Plus, it's right around the corner from Madison Square Park, so just when your little one is about to blow his/her stack, you can unleash 'em into the wild. Big Bub and his 18-month old friend Max tore it up after being good boys and sitting still for a whole hour.

Saturday night, Glamadad and I ventured out on our own, without a plan!
First, we checked out a new neighborhood spot, Brats: Dogs & Weiners, a cozy little eatery from Austrian chef Daniel Angerer of Klee Brasserie just around the corner.
Now I love me some wieners but I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the gourmet, fancy variety.
We sampled 4: the Dragon Wiener (a pig sausage served with red kimchee and spicy sriracha mustard), Bratwurst (pork injected with Swiss cheese and served with candied apple mustard), Sweet Italian Sausage with firestarter mustard, and the 3 Dog Quickies (beef sausage bites with pineapple-cola ketchup).
The Dragon and the Bratwurst were the most unique for me and definitely worth a return trip. I also had a vanilla milkshake with malted bacon confetti! Why not, right? It was the perfect balance of salty and sweet and I can't wait for another. All and all, a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

After getting our fill of wieners and milkshakes we went to the movies. I honestly can't recall the last time I saw a movie in the theater!

What did we watch? The Social Network, of course!

The weekend wrapped with a lazy Sunday and coffee date with fellow West Chelsea mom and blogger, Ellen of Baby Meets City. Our lovies were born a month apart and we live a block apart. Ellen writes an awesome feature called Big Apple Books where she reviews NYC-based children's literature so be sure to check it out.

I'm feeling decently recharged, although a tad bloated. Now onto the holidays!
