Skin Authority is a prestige skin care line beloved by beauty experts and celebrities for its skin care performance and anti-aging benefits. The complete line of multi-purpose “results-oriented” products and easy to use home care kits have simple routines, which is very attractive to us moms that have limited time to devote to our beauty routines.
I’ve had so much fun working with Alberto VO5 on its “National Frizz Month” campaign showing women how to prevent and manage frizzy hair during the hot summer months.
Humid weather causes frizzy hair for most women. In a recent survey, a whopping 87% percent of women say they suffer from frizz and use specialty products to manage it. Seventy-five percent of women check the weather forecast each day to plan their frizz fighting routines and 25% even admit to staying home on a bad hair day!
If you’re having a particularly bad hair day, trying styling your hair up. Here’s my favorite simple summer up-do, a knotted bun tutorial, plus the products I use for styling.
For my last video in this series, I have the complete VO5 recommended 5-step process for preventing and managing frizz from pre-treatment through styling and the 5 products to tame frizzy hair:
In high school a friend showed me how to knot my hair and I’ve been wearing it up in a knotted bun ever since. No accessories needed! It’s the perfect style on hot and humid days when frizz takes over and I want my hair completely up off my shoulders.
In honor of Alberto VO5’s ® “National Anti-Frizz Month,” here’s a quick tutorial and the products I use to reduce frizz and hold the bun in place:
First Aid Beauty (also known as FAB), is a skincare line free of harsh chemicals and known allergens, alcohol, fragrances, and artificial dyes. Select products also boast FDA-approved over-the-counter formulations that target specific skin issues such as eczema and acne. The brand has around since 2009, founded by industry vet Lilli Gordon when to fill the void in the prestige skincare market for super sensitive skin.
Overall I really like the line. The vintage drug store packaging is super cute and the products are hydrating and lightweight. The price tag is really hefty so I think First Aid Beauty obviously makes the most sense for those with eczema or very sensitive skin. If I had to compare the brand to one more mass market I would definitely say it’s the higher-end Simple. They have that fragrance free, paired down smell and feel to them. Here are my thoughts on individual products within the line:
The skin around our eyes is the thinnest, therefore the most vulnerable to environmental factors, diet, and sleep. Not surprisingly, it’s also one of the first places women notice signs of aging. It certainly was for me. As a result, you’ll rarely catch me without sunglasses and I’m religious about applying eye cream at night. I wear under eye concealer if I want to look my best (this is my favorite) but otherwise I’ve just been use a daily moisturizer with SPF to cover my entire face. Until now.
Happy August, friends! Can you believe we’re half way through the summer! Where does the time go?!
The weather in New York has been all over the place this summer. Who knows what this month holds. Typically, August is the most hot and humid month of the year, which really does a number on my hair! I try to lay off the styling as much as possible and let my hair just air dry but unfortunately, that’s when it’s its frizziest and unruly.
I’m thrilled to be partnering with Alberto VO5®, the legendary hair care brand known for its affordable, 5 Essential Vitamin formula, to launch its second annual “National Anti-Frizz Month,” empowering women to fight August’s dog days. I’ll be posting 3 brief videos to discuss the science behind frizz and how to prevent it before it starts, an easy summer hairstyle to get your hair up off your face, and VO5’s recommended 5-step process and products to prevent and manage frizz.
Happy National Lipstick Day, friends! Did you know women have been wearing lipstick for over 5,000 years now? If you’re hoarding tons of tubes, you’re not alone! Lipstick’s ability to decorate, protect, and transform the lips is why it tops the list of makeup essentials for many wearers.
All beauty products perform their best when the surface you’re applying them too is healthy, hydrated, and prepped for long wear. Makeup is also easier to apply precisely when you’re using the right tools. Sure, you can swipe on this summer’s most popular lip shades and go (that’s about all I have time for most days) but if you really want the perfect pout– lipstick that lasts and dazzles, you’re going to have to put a little more into it!
The most glamorous of holidays, National Lipstick Day, is this coming Tuesday and our friends at Amazon looked at lipstick sales and search terms to determine the most lipstick obsessed cities in the United States as well as the most popular lipstick shades summer 2014.
Would you believe that people in Miami, Portland?! and Atlanta buy more lipstick than in any other cities in the US? Looks like NYC has to up its lipstick game!
Be sure to pop by next week, I’ll have a fun pink lipstick how-to.
