Bravado Designs #LittleVictories

Our friends at Bravado Designs are celebrating the “little victories” that make a big difference in our overall well-being and that of our families. I’ve been a BravadoMama for a long time (you can check out my maternity style here) and am thrilled to be part of the #LittleVictories campaign.

In a recent study, 72% of women agreed date night with their partner is important, yet more than a third hadn’t been on a date night in over 6 months. Here’s a short video we made to share how my husband and I make time for one another amid the chaos of young parenthood:

How do you prioritize alone time with your partner?

Beauty Buzz | Introducing Sally Hansen’s #IHeartNailArt Theme for April

Sally Hansen

Earlier this year I attended a fabulous little nail art party at Soho House hosted by Sally Hansen and Glam Media to kick off the #IHeartNailArt Contest which runs through May.

During the event, which included cocktails and manis, I filmed a little intro to April’s contest theme. Well, April’s here so here it is!

Have you guys been submitting pics?

Sharing Juicy Secrets With Chef Tim Love

Hellmann’s must have taken note of my attempt to glam up the kitchen because they invited me to cook a quick and easy chicken recipe alongside Texas chef Tim Love.  How easy you ask?  So easy, any Glamamom can do it!

We filmed the segment in one take and that was it.  I was in my own kitchen that evening trying the recipe and it came out just as crispy, juicy, and delicious.  Sebastian loved it.  Try it and let me know what you think!

· 1/2 cup Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise
· 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
· 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (about 1-1/4 lbs.)
· 4 tsp. Italian seasoned dry bread crumbs

1. Preheat oven to 425°.
2. Combine Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise with cheese in medium bowl. Arrange chicken on baking sheet. Evenly top with Mayonnaise mixture, then sprinkle with bread crumbs.
3. Bake 20 minutes or until chicken is thoroughly cooked.

The recipe also works well with Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Light Mayonnaise or Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Canola Cholesterol Free Mayonnaise.

Timesaving Tip: Try making the dish with thin-cut boneless skinless chicken breasts! Prepare as above, decreasing bake time to 10 minutes or until chicken is thoroughly cooked. Omit Parmesan cheese and have “Magically Moist Chicken” on the table in less than 30 minutes.

#HowIStroll With Baby Jogger | Video Journal 1

We’re rolling a lot deeper since Luke arrived on the scene and I’m not sure we could do it without our City Mini Double Stroller.  It’s allowed us to continue exploring the city in style and comfort no matter where we’re going or what the weather.

I’m thrilled to be partnering with Baby Jogger in a 4-part series, #HowIStroll, to give you a little bit of insight into the urban parenting experience and how I stroll around Manhattan with the boys.  This is the first of my four videos so stay tuned and thank you for watching!

Oh, and Baby Jogger is giving away accessories each week so be sure to follow along on Twitter with the hashtag #HowIStroll for details. They’re also giving away strollers in Facebook Sweepstakes. This week a City Select is up for grabs and I’m featured in the ad! What are you waiting for?! Get over there and enter!

["jackie" dress c/o madeleine maternity (on sale!) / gitane tassel necklace & ella bracelet c/o stella & dotearrings: miram salat (c/o lucky mag) / sandals: stuart weitzman / clutch: old bcbg]

Happy Monday Lovelies!

Huz and I are just back from our babymoon in Cape May and needless to say I’m feeling relaxed and rejuvenated (for now at least).  It was great to get away but we sure missed this little guy, who had us swooning from over 150 miles away (thanks for the video Valen!)

Cape May is a very laid back beach town so I didn’t have many occasions to dress up but Saturday night we dined at The Ebbitt Room in the historic Virginia Hotel (whose signature color is red) so I took the opportunity to wear this lovely dress Madeleine from Madeleine Maternity sent me.  Check out her dresses.  They’re absolutely gorgeous and super affordable too.

If you’re linking up with #MondayMingle, welcome!

One participant this week will win the NEW StriVectin-SD Power Serum for Wrinkles ($99 value), a super-charged age-fighting serum clinically proven to repair wrinkles and diminish the look of pores, that launches tonight at midnight on QVC along with the StriVectin-SD Intensive Concentrate Face Cream.  UPDATE: The winner is #56, Kim!

Have a glamorous week!

“#MondayMingle” is a weekly fashion/personal style link-up rotated between Momtrends, BonBon Rose Girls, and Glamamom. For sponsorship options, contact

R Baby Foundation: Improving Pediatric Emergency Care & Saving Babies’ Lives

Did you know that your local ER may or may not be prepared to treat your child?

I was floored to learn from R Baby Foundation, established in 2006 to organize and fund efforts to improve the outcomes of medical care for infants, that emergency medical services and emergency departments in the U.S. are not well equipped to handle pediatric care.

Only 6% of Emergency Departments in the U.S. have the necessary supplies for pediatric emergencies.

Yes, you read that correctly, only 6%!  In fact, babies born in the U.S. are twice as likely to die than in many other developed countries, including Sweden, Japan and Spain (the United States is ranked 36th among 196 nations).  Here are the disheartening, contributing factors:

  • Most children receive emergency care in general (not children’s) hospitals, which are less likely to have pediatric expertise, equipment, and policies in place for the care of children.
  • Many drugs and medical devices have not been adequately tested on, or dosed properly for, children – including babies.
  • Although pediatric skills deteriorate quickly without practice, continuing education in pediatric care is not required or is extremely limited for many pre-hospital emergency medical technicians (EMTs).

Learning these stats was sobering, to say the least. Even more so, was participating in the #RBabyMoms Twitter awareness party last month and learning how many friends and colleagues have had nightmare ED experiences with their babies like nurses that had never done a catheter on an infant before (read this one several times).

One of my first actions upon learning these deficiencies was to identify which hospital ED we would go to if needed.  Are you prepared for a trip to the emergency room? Do you know which hospital you would bring your child to in an emergency?  Is it a children’s hospital?  You need to plan in advance.

Here are the recommended items and information to have on hand and always remember that you need to be an advocate for your child, ask questions, and never assume.

I’m honored to have participated in this PSA alongside fellow bloggers and will be attending Wednesday’s sold-out Food & Wine Gala at The Plaza to honor my friend Julia Beck of Forty Weeks, among others.

It’s In the Jeans! | My Rock & Republic Makeover {Sponsored}

Thanks to Kohl’s, a lucky group of Glam Media’s personal style bloggers and I received glamorous, Rock & Republic makeovers last month at Beaver Studio in Lower Manhattan.

I’d been working on the launch of Rock & Republic for Kohl’s all winter, so it was a blast to finally try on all the clothes and accessories I’d seen on the runway and been drooling over.

Jeans are the most versatile, therefore the most essential, part of my wardrobe as a busy, working mom. I am always on the hunt for the perfect fit and typically shy away from denim trends in favor of classic, dark wash jeans that I think flatter me most and easily transition from day to night, work to play.

I absolutely love Rock & Republic’s Berlin Skinny Jean, which I was outfitted in for a video and photo shoot. It’s a classic, slimming silhouette, and the front pockets are even cut out and sewn shut, which I normally spend the money to do anyway. Who needs extra bulge on the thigh? The best part is they look and feel like all my other premium denim jeans but cost only $80.

Here’s a recap of my day with Rock & Republic and how I was styled:

[rock & republic berlin skinny jeans / rock & republic v-neck top / jennifer lopez collection asymmetrical faux leather jacket / rock & republic blue high heels]

What’s your personal denim style? Classic? Modern? Edgy? Preppy? Glamorous? Retro?

I’ve spent all year reviewing products and attending trade shows to determine this season’s hottest gifts from beauty to books. I’ll be posting recommendations throughout the next week or so but Black Friday is upon and if you’re in NYC, you won’t want to miss Lucky Magazine Shops, one-day-only, Black Friday deals at The Shops at Columbus Circle, Time Warner Center.

Complimentary mini-makeovers at Sephora? Gifts with purchase? 25% off? YES PLEASE!!!

Here’s a fun promo I filmed last week while scoping out the deals at a blogger preview with Christina Cardona of Trop Rouge, Lindsey Calla of Saucy Glossie, Christine Cameron of My Style Pill, Claire Geist of De Lune Blog, and Natalie Suarez of Natalie Off Duty:

The video will be featured on Time Warner Center’s website and maybe even Lucky Mag’s (OMG!) And in case you missed it, 25% off makes affordable things even more affordable. Ugh, sometimes my nerves get the best of me. BUT, I had a blast running around Time Warner Center perusing the beautiful shops. It’s such a unique fixture to the Manhattan shopping scene with its sweeping views of Central Park and multi-level, luxe shopping and restaurants.

For a full rundown of the discounts and deals click here: Black Friday Deal Hunter Booklet.

Happy Shopping Darlings! Tell me, how far along are you? Just finishing up or just getting started?

{I was not compensated for this post. The preview was part of MasterCard’s Priceless New York experiences and I received a MasterCard from Lucky Magazine to shop the deals.}

Two weeks ago I received an email that made me jump out of my chair.

Adam of Dada Rocks! was putting together a team to compete in a Nissan-sponsored, blogger charity competition with Ben Bailey, host of Discovery Network’s Cash Cab, and asked Lauren and I if we wanted to join him to help raise money for The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center here in NYC.

To qualify my level of excitement, I come from a trivia family. My parents hosted game nights regularly when I was growing up and our family gatherings always culminate in some kind of trivia competition (dorks, I know).  A friend of mine got into the Cash Cab last month and I was scratching my head wondering how it’s possible that in all my years romping around the streets of NY I’ve never once encountered Ben Bailey swerving through traffic or at the very least, received a shout-out.

Well, I can now cross that off my list, sort of…

In the shadow of the Flatiron Building, Nissan unveiled its NV200 Taxi of Tomorrow, a sweet ride (with a moon roof and USB ports among other features) that debuts in 2013 as the exclusive taxi of New York City, and we schooled Melissa, Vera, Nichelle, and Rachel in taxi trivia:

Thank you Rachel, I mean Twitter, for your help.

Here’s videos of Team 1, Team 2, and Team 4.

When it was all said and done, we raised $1,000 for The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center, caught a glimpse of the fabulous new Taxi of Tomorrow, and got to snuggle up with Ben Bailey.

Now that’s what I call winning.

{Nissan provided me with a jacket and signed Cash Cab board game by Ben Bailey, and made a $1,000 donation to the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center on my behalf. Snuggling w/Ben Bailey photo courtesy of Adam with Lauren’s camera.}

The most amazing aspect of writing a blog is having a platform.

From opinions about products, events and places, to raising awareness for causes I believe in, it’s an extraordinary opportunity and responsibility.

With or without a formal platform, we as moms have tremendous power. We influence our children, families, and communities simply through our actions and the way we live our lives.

It’s with this concept that ONE Moms was founded– to encourage moms everywhere to speak for those who struggle with their own voice and to spread awareness in the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, and promote education, engagement, and activism on behalf of the world’s poorest.

This summer, ONE Moms took 10 American social media moms to Kenya to meet their African counterparts and experience extreme poverty through the eyes of a mother in Africa. The focus of the trip was to show that despite the vast differences, there are still so many similarities between us and families in the developing world.

In support of ONE Moms’ efforts, I joined some of my favorite New York  moms and those who traveled to Kenya to make a mini-PSA of sorts called It Only Takes ONE Mom.

I get emotional every time I watch it.  It’s so beautiful and the message is so true:

What can you do to join the movement?

  1. Become a ONE Mom. Sign up here for “ONE Week” updates and to join moms around the world in our movement to end extreme poverty.
  2. Join ONE and (RED)’s Twitter campaign by Tweeting the following: “@whitehouse Beginning of the #endofAIDS starts w you. Lead a global plan to treat & prevent HIV @ONECampaign @joinred”
  3. Read ONE Moms’ partner blogs here. One Moms’ community partners are critical to engaging as many people as possible in the fight against extreme poverty.

It only takes one mom.
