Three Stylish Mamas | New Year’s Eve Style by Karen Kane

New years eve fashion

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday! I’m still decompressing from a visit with the in-laws and hosting a big Christmas Eve party but the kids have enough new toys to captivate them well into…the next few weeks at least, which allows me to be lazy (and catch up on Scandal).

I’m taking a little social media break but wanted to pop in to to talk New Year’s Eve style. My friends Kristin of BonBon Rose Girls and Carly of Thirty Something Fashion are joining me for another installment of Three Stylish Mamas. This week we’re styling pieces from the California-based, American-made apparel company Karen Kane.

Do you have any New Year’s Eve plans? I have to admit that with 2 small children and now living in the suburbs, New Year’s Eve has taken on new meaning but it’s a great excuse to get glammed up.

I’m a dress girl and love the simplicity of one major statement piece, tights, and nice boots or heels. You can’t go wrong with a classic approach to holiday dressing whether you’re headed to dinner or a house party. I did just that with Karen Kane’s Knot Front dress in Paint Splash (no longer available but similar silhouettes are). A modern print is always a fun and festive way to go. This dress is comfy and stretchy and has the knot and pleating to camouflage my mom parts:

I have some other Karen Kane pieces I’ll be showcasing in upcoming Mode Monday posts as well. They’re comfortable and easy and pair well with everything from jeans to formal wear. I’m particularly excited about this Cascade Wrap Dress that’s also super flattering and festive.

Be sure to head over to BonBon Rose Girls and Thirty Something Fashion to see how they styled their New Year’s Eve looks.

really just LOVE this dress on you…SO chic!!! Our New Years is up in the air too….will we or won’t we …that is always the question. Comfy PJ’s and in bed by 10 doesn’t sound too shabby, lol.

I have a Karen Kane dress myself that i really love, it’s very flattering to the figure. This paint-splash print is really gorgeous, i love a good printed dress!

Your hair looks really, really good! The ends have a bit of a lighter/ombre look, or is that just the natural lighting giving it that tone? In any case, you look so fantastic!

Hi Jill, you look fantastic as always and I love Karen Kane :) But what caught my attention in your post is the scenery/background. Then I read that you are now living in the suburbs — when did that happen? I guess with the kids it gets a bit cramped in the city. It was the same with us in London. Anyway, all the best from DC and feliz año nuevo!

That dress is gorgeous, Jill! It *almost* makes me wish that I had somewhere to go that would force me to stay up past midnight. 😉 But then I remember I’m pregnant and tired… so I’m happy to crawl into bed at 9:00. Haha

p.s. Kids do get a crazy amount of presents! I end up putting lots of them in a closet, then during the year when the kids need something new to do, we pull out a new toy.
