Vaseline Medicine Cabinet Clean Out Challenge

Vaseline Total Moisture

With little over a month till baby number two arrives, I’m in total nesting mode.

One of the projects that’s been on my list for quite some time is to clean out the vanity in our master bathroom.

When Vaseline proposed a medicine cabinet declutter challenge, it couldn’t have been better timing and was just the motivation I needed to get moving.  Plus, we’re in the process of potty training Bubba and spending an inordinate amount of time in the bathroom these days anyway.

Not that we actually have a medicine cabinet, by the way.

When we renovated, I thought I was being cute avoiding medicine cabinets and opting for chic mirrors instead.  While I do love my mirrors, I hate the lack of storage and relying on drawers and vanity space for all of our beauty and health care products.  Especially since I personally test all of the products recommended on this blog.

Apparently I’m not alone.  Almost 30% of women admit to storing products for more than three years and over a third are harboring more than twenty products*.  Makes me feel a teensy bit better.

One of my major considerations when I review products for Glamamom’s “Beauty Buzz” features is to find multifunctional products that save busy women time, money, and space.  When asked why they own multiple body lotions, nearly 60% of women respond that they have different lotions for different reasons; taking care of their skin vs. using lotions for their feel and scent.

Vaseline Moisturizer is a product I saw my mom using growing up.  With today’s Vaseline Total Moisture (in three variants: Total Moisture, Total Moisture Aloe Fresh, and Total Moisture Cocoa Radiant,) the formula is thicker and gentler, the fragrances are enhanced, and the packaging is more punchy with bright colors.  Now women don’t have to choose between what they need (efficacy) and what they want (feel) in a moisturizer.  It really feels good on skin, while doing good for skin.

I’ve been using Total Moisture as an allover lotion for the past week and am very happy with its fast-absorbing, non-greasy feel.  The oat extract has a clean, mild scent, and the proprietary Stratys-3 complex combines three key ingredients to deliver effective multilayer moisture: Glycerol Quat, Glycerin, and Hydroxyethyl.  It’s largest bottle (32 oz.) retails for less than $8 and the line can be easily found at food, drug and mass retailers nationwide.

Yesterday was cleaning day and I’m ashamed to admit it how long it took.  I went through 3 drawers, 2 cabinets, and 2 vanity trays.  We had expired medications, tons of old, unused travel/sample size lotions, shampoos, and toothpastes, and loose Q-tips and cotton balls galore.

It’s so much more relaxing to walk into a clutter-free bathroom and have just the products we’re currently using so easily accessible!

I actually cleaned mine out a few weeks ago. The husband had LASIK so I was delighted to throw out all of the millions of contact lens cases and bottles of stuff he had accumulated. I love the trays on your vanity, by the way. Somehow makes a stash of products look fancy. :)
