With the sudden drop in temperature this past week I’ve noticed that my skin has been looking a little off. Dry in some areas and patchy from a little too much “fun in the sun” this past summer in others. When things start to go awry like this, I check in with a professional to take a deeper look at how my skin is changing, address any product needs, and get a deep clean to brighten things back up again. I know getting a facial can seem like a luxury, but this little indulgence pays off in spades when it comes to the overall quality of your skin. Here are some of the best facials in NYC:
One of my favorite spas on the Upper West Side for a deep clean is Ling Skincare. This cozy spot is located in a sweet little townhouse and the environment is relaxing and serene. Founded by Ling Chan, a Hong Kong native and long-time New Yorker, she blends a unique mix of Chinese tradition and State-of-the-Art ingredients which promise results. Her client list that includes Naomi Campbell, Renee Zellweger and Madonna, speaks for itself and I definitely want what they’re having.
The Wow Signature Triple Peel Facial is definitely an indulgence as it starts face down with a twenty minute hot stone massage (heaven!) with tourmaline crystals followed by steam, a facial massage, serums, masks, extractions (so good), and a peel. This is a complete experience that will have your skin glowing like Mariah Carey (yes, she’s one of her clients too).
All of the products used during my treatment are created by Ling herself and can be purchased to keep the glow going long after. My favorite was the Dual Moisture Emulsion, which is a silky, light serum that has many people complimenting me on my skin.
One of my most recent favorite discoveries is Heyday, a new facial shop that believes that putting your best face forward should be easy. From 30 to 50 minutes (and the new off-the-menu 75- minute session), each facial is convenient, affordable and fits into amy busy schedule. Getting a facial once a month helps to keep pores free of build-up and allows products to work to the best of their abilities. Piling expensive serum onto congested skin isn’t going to get you results and it’ll definitely blow your budget.
The Heyday space is exquisite, and has an Ace Hotel meets downtown coffee bar vibe complete with amazing tunes that will have you dreaming you are dancing in the Coachella desert. Every detail in this beautifully-designed oasis has been thought through from both an aesthetic and functional point of view and they’ve even included a full charging station in each skincare cabana (major points).
I opted for the 30-minute facial which provided me with everything I needed to get my skin back on track, minus the extractions which was actually perfect because I could go back to my daily routine without feeling like I needed to hide out in my apartment for the rest of the day.
Our friends at Heyday have offered our readers a free LED Phototherapy Enhancement service, a non-invasive light treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin in the skin which is great for longer term anti-aging benefits. Just use the promo code GLAMAMOM when you book through November 30, 2015. Enjoy the glow!
