The start of the new year is always a good time to take stock of your daily rituals and habits and vow to do things a little better in the coming months. One thing that I’ve realized is that I’ve been stuck in the same beauty routine for what seems like decades. Sure, I try new products here and there but inevitably I migrate back to those tried and true favorites. With the unlimited number of choices available and boundless beauty bloggers to walk us through the best of the best, it seems a shame not to indulge in some experimentation now and again.
One of the easiest things to change or experiment with is of course, your hair. I’ve pretty much had the same hairstyle (both cut and color) since I was fourteen years old. I somehow got roped into a hair show for Paul Mitchell where I met my first hair stylist in the big city (much different than the hair dressers' I had seen in my tiny town) and I haven’t looked back. Sure I’ve made a few changes: like going platinum blonde on a whim right before college graduation (what was I thinking?), to “the Rachel” (didn’t you?) but ultimately my hair has stayed the same.
I suppose you can say that I’m not the biggest risk taker and anytime I’m considering a big change (I still sort of want a bob while simultaneously want uber-long mermaid hair) I put the breaks on and keep things status quo. “It’ll grow back!” they say and I don’t disagree, but it would take a very long time. When I recently came across Irresistible Me Hair Extensions, I knew I had found the perfect beauty boost for the year ahead.
Let me just say, are the best hair extensions. They are so easy to clip into your hair and are made out of real human hair so they blend in beautifully with your own. The folks at Irresistible Me are based in New York City and are so great to work with. They helped me choose the color (Golden Blonde), length (18”) and weight (200 grams) and they also provided a step-by-step video to walk me through the process.
I was nervous to try them out for the first time as I thought people would be able to see where the extensions were added to my hair but they are foolproof. I’ve worn them for holiday parties, New Years Eve, date nights and definitely plan on rocking them to more outings throughout the months ahead. And because they are made out of real human hair, you can style them just as you would your own hair. I love the big thick braid I was able to achieve with them but am thinking about using a curling iron for a glam look for a party that I have coming up. This is definitely the kind of experimentation I can tolerate.
