One of my favorite things about the change of seasons is updating my my beauty routine. I’ve traded in my bronzer for cream blush, swapped out formulas and changed up my skin and hair routines and I’ve got products to share! I’ve been keeping a list of my favorite finds this winter and below is a list of my 10 favorites. Happy shopping!
The Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is hands-down one of my favorite hair products so I was thrilled to discover that Oribe just launched a Dry Shampoo. I’ve been trying to find the perfect formula forever but, I was never impressed with the way my hair felt or even the results, until now. Like the Texturizing Spray, Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo uses oil-absorbing ingredients to prolong your blow out and leave your hair smooth, silky and soft. It’s not sticky, it doesn’t leave build up and it smells great as well. It’s on the pricier side at $44 a bottle but I’ve found that these products go the extra mile and a little goes a long way. An added bonus is that it’s also paraben, sulfate and sodium chloride free.
Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray by Phyto Paris
Phyto is a staple backstage at Fashion Week and with good reason. My go-to product out of the line is the Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray. Named a 2016 InStyle Best Beauty Buy, this volumizer does wonders on my fine hair to give it volume and bounce. The formula is heat activated to protect your hair which will be a bonus during the upcoming winter months.
For those of us in warmer climates (or for those that have travel coming up!) the Phyto Plage line acts as a protective sun veil, protecting hair color from UV damage. I spend a fortune on my hair color every year so this is a must when we head to the beach later this year.
IT Cosmetics just launched in Sephora stores nationwide and I had the pleasure of attending their new product launch earlier this Fall. I had never heard of this brand before but I was more than impressed with everything that I tried. Developed with plastic surgeons, IT Cosmetics harnesses cutting-edge anti-aging technologies which is something that I’ve been focused on since turning 40. One of my problem areas are the dark circles under my eyes but, I think I’ve finally discovered a product that covers them completely in the Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination. This formula is heavy-duty and covers everything. A tiny drop goes a long way, my eyes look brighter and I can use it to cover the rogue acne spot as well.
There’s a reason Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara has been raking in the awards since it appeared on the beauty scene. I’ve been dabbling in eyelash extensions recently as I like waking up and looking (almost!) ready to walk out the door but I inevitably end up with a few rogue lashes. Not cute. Miraculously, this mascara gives the appearance of wearing fake lashes with just a few strokes of the wand. My lashes were thicker, longer, darker and I get so many compliments from people saying how great my lashes are. They’re real, but uber-enhanced.
If you haven’t followed the astronomical growth of Beautycounter, I suggest you give their site a look. Founded by Gregg Renfrew, a serial entrepreneur and mother of two, she was horrified at the discovery that the beauty industry is loosely regulated and the use of harmful ingredients are common practices in many beloved products. In fact, the United States has not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938! (yikes!). I could easily write an entire post on Gregg, the company and all of their products that promise to never use harmful or questionable ingredients, but instead I’ll highlight two of my favorites from the line.
I love the pop of pink that makes your cheeks look flushed and youthful and the texture is perfect for the chilly winter months when my skin is dry and power doesn’t set the same way as it does in the warm weather. You can also use this on your lips which is an added bonus and knowing that it’s chemical free is something to smile about.
The perfect sheer formula that is long-lasting, not sticky and provides enough color to for a casual day look. My favorite is the Peony shade but I want to try more as this really has become my go-to.
If there is one thing that I’ve learned through all of my product testing it’s that the need for an anti-aging boost, whether it be a cream, oil or serum is essential. Trying to figure out one that works for your skin type (and budget!) is the tricky part. Thankfully, I met Dr. Kenneth Mark who was voted one of the Best Doctors nationwide (twice!) by his peers who just launched a line of proprietary skincare based on his years of research. Dr. Mark is a pioneer in the use of Astaxanthin and developed his own ingredient, ASTA-ZOME(™) which protects your skin from free radicals and significantly decreases the appearance of wrinkles. I’ve been using the Antioxidant Boost for a few months and I’ve noticed a visible difference in the texture of my skin. At $190 the serum is definitely on the high end of the budget but knowing that years of research from an actual surgeon went into creating this product made me get on board.
Everythings she does is magic. Really. Check out my full review here.
It may seem weird to be including a razor in this round-up because aren’t they all generally the same? The answer is no. Stop staring at the aisle of brightly colored razors and just go with the BIC Soleil Shine. It has 5 blades, provides the smoothest shave I’ve tried and it’s simply the best.
