Sally Hansen's #IHeartNailArt Contest

Bauble Bar Collar Necklace

The opportunity to work with Sally Hansen couldn't have come a better time since nail art is one of my favorite beauty trends.

You'd be hard-pressed to catch my nails un-manicured, despite the fact that I wash my hands a gazillion times a day with two small kids, a dog, and endless household duties. Manicures are one of the ways I treat myself whether I'm having it professionally done or doing it myself.

What I like best about nail art is that it's an easy and inexpensive way to show off your personal style. For moms especially, a glamorous DIY mani is a meaningful way to add a little oomph to everyday outfits.

Sally Hansen is providing even more incentive for budding nail artists like myself with its I <3 Nail Art Contest. Each month from February through May has its own theme and you can upload photos of your nail art creations to either Sally Hansen's Facebook page or by using the hashtag #iheartnailart when you Tweet or Instagram your photos. Each monthly winner will win $500 and a trip to New York to compete in the grand finale. The grand prize is $2,000 and a one year ambassadorship with Sally Hansen!

Sally Hansen Cinnabon & Glitz Blitz Mani

February's contest theme not surprisingly is "Sweetheart." I've come across amazing nails with pinks and reds and cutesy hearts but for me, I try to keep it real for my everyday life and mix up my ordinary manis by adding either an accent nail or something subtle so that I'm not eliciting any side eyes at preschool drop off. Nail art can be classy and sophisticated, it's all about how you apply it!

This week I chose Cinna-Snap for the base and applied Glitz Blitz Salon Effect Nail Polish Strips to my ring finger as an accent. I know it's scary if you haven't applied one before but I promise it's SUPER easy. You can see my full outfit here.

Can't wait to see your designs.
