Last week my girls and I got a chance to hit the red carpet for LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester’s premiere of The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure. If you’ve never visited LEGOLAND Westchester before, we highly recommend it. It’s a really great indoor option for letting kids run off their energy when it’s too cold, too wet, or even too hot to play outside.
Ellie and I visited back in November and got to see the old 4D LEGO movie. We’re happy to report that this one was even better!
“Our visitors were so enthusiastic about the original The LEGOMovie and we are ecstatic to bring back some of their favorite characters,” said Monique Perretti, Marketing Manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester. “The unique 4D experience of our theater will bring a whole new level of entertainment to The LEGO Movie fans.”
I completely agree. If you’ve never been to a 4D movie before, it combines the 3D experience with elements like wind, water, smoke and special lighting effects. My not-quite five-year old shrieked and yelled in excitement the entire time, reaching out to grab objects that flew out at us and squealing “Did you feel that?!!!” whenever the wind blew or we got a little wet. Combine her excitement with the fact that this short incorporates some humor aimed at grownups like The LEGO Movie did and you’ve got a winning combination.
The new 4D movie brings back some of the voices from the original The LEGO Movie including Elizabeth Banks (Wyldstyle), Alison Brie (Unikitty), Nick Offerman (MetalBeard) and Charlie Day (Benny). It also introduces a new villain, President Business’s brother “Risky Business,” voiced by Patton Oswalt. You can check out the trailer here.
After the movie, we got to enjoy the rest of the 32,300 square-foot space which includes rides, hands-on play areas, an indoor playground, and MINILAND—a re-creation of landmark locations and buildings throughout Westchester and New York City, made entirely out of LEGO bricks.
If you and your family would like to check it out, LEGOLAND is offering Glamamom readers a 20% discount. Here are the instructions:
