Moms are known for being unabashedly proud of their kids’ accomplishments. From the second they’re born, we tend to think they are the absolute greatest thing that has ever been created.
Do you feel how strong her grasp is?!
Have you ever seen a child who is more alert?!
Look how early he learned how to roll over!
Now, imagine taking that insanely proud momma and placing her on a red carpet to celebrate her child’s Oscar nomination. Cue all of the feelings! Can you even imagine?!
At last night’s Oscars, three moms absolutely beamed with pride while accompanying their sons down the red carpet. It was enough to make this emotional momma a little bit teary eyed.
Dev Patel, nominated for best supporting actor in Lion, brought his mom Anita. The way these two grinned at each other was living proof of the magic of the bond between a mother and her baby—even if he is 26, bearded and towering over her. He held her hand throughout his whole red carpet interview.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, nominated for best original song for Moana’s “How Far I’ll Go” (which, by the way, plays on repeat in our house), walked arm and arm with his mom, Dr. Luz Towns-Miranda, wearing matching ACLU pins. During their interview, Luz went full-on mom, bringing up stories from his childhood and gushing about how she always knew her boy was special.
Lucas Hedges, best supporting actor nominee for Manchester by the Sea, was also accompanied by his mom, Susan Bruce Titman. Radiating pride, Susan planted a big old kiss on her son’s cheek while they were posing for photos.
Though none of the men went home with an Oscar last night, they won big in this mom’s eyes.
