In my quest to get into better shape for summer, I've been making a huge effort to have breakfast. As simple as that is, I'm completely content with a cup of coffee (or two) and don't crave food so smoothies are a great option. My boys love them any time of day and I've found they're an easy way to pack in the yogurt, fruits and veggies, and camouflage other goodies like vitamins and super foods.

My friends at alternaVites shared these delicious recipes for their favorite breakfast smoothies. The ingredients are all simple and accessible and the variety of flavors will appeal to the entire family. You can add a packet of their alternaVites or alternaVites Kids to any of the recipes for added boost of essential vitamins and minerals.

alternaVites / alternVites Kids is a pretty genius idea-- the packets of gluten free and sugar free multivitamins & minerals can be poured onto the tongue where they melt in your mouth (think Pixy Stix) or mixed into yogurts, smoothies, shakes, cereals, and puddings for picky kids or those with taste and texture issues. I was excited to find the brand especially for my kids since it seems like the only choices are chalky chewables or sugary gummies that are bad for the teeth. A lot of adults, not just kids, have issues swallowing pills so this is a really creative solution.

A daily vitamin that's easy to swallow or hide, gluten free, sugar free, vegetarian, contains no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors, certified kosher, and recommended by dentists? What's not to like?

Intrigued? You can pick up alternaVites online or at a variety of stores like Whole Foods and Harmon.
