CYBEX recently launched its newest compact stroller: MIOS. Engineered and designed in Germany, the MIOS stroller weighs only 19.2 pounds and measures 19.7 inches in width, making it easier and more comfortable to get around for both baby and caretaker. The stroller features a reversible stroller seat, as well as removable padding, which reveals a highly breathable mesh seat back. My gnome baby reluctantly took time off from his eat, sleep, poop routine to help me test it out. Here's what we like about it:
The MIOS is undeniably sleek looking. I love all the color packs but the black is universally cool. I'm obsessed with the MIOS Butterfly and Birds of Paradise Fashion Editions, which made our Great Gifts for Babies Holiday Guide.
As I think you can even tell from the photos, the MIOS is very lightweight and compact but with more stability than your average umbrella stroller. If I could compare it to any other premium stroller I've owned, I would say it's like the Bugaboo Bee but a lot lighter and easier to fold.
The MIOS has a nice one-handed recline function and an extended canopy with UPF50+ sun protection and a viewing window. I love the little adjustable foot rest. This is actually my baby's first time sitting in a stroller without the car seat and as you can see, he's very secure and comfortable. If starting from birth, you can attach an infant car seat and/or a carry cot to your MIOS. It's obviously compatible with the CYBEX Cloud Q Infant Car Seat we reviewed here.
I also like that the seat can face forward or backward. Both the backrest and footrest on the MIOS are designed with mesh. A comfort inlay can be added to the seat unit for additional warmth on cooler days.
The MIOS promises a one-handed fold in seconds, which is true but it feels like two steps rather than the pull and collapse of a City Mini, for example. Once folded, the MIOS is quite compact, making it a great urban stroller, as well as a suburban staple for sticking in the trunk of your car.
Step 1 in purchasing a MIOS requires you to select your breathable seat/frame/wheel combination as the essential base. Step 2, you can personalize your MIOS by selecting a Color Pack, which includes the Sun Canopy, Comfort Inlay and Head Cushion.
It took me less than 30 minutes to assemble the base and the Color Pack, which is about average. I had some trouble with the canopy, which makes me fearful to remove it for washing but overall I endorse the MIOS for its appearance, ease of use, and compact size. It's a solid stroller option in the mid-price range and you'll feel fabulous pushing it.
