Now that the kids are settling into the Back to School routine I have finally had a chance to go through their closet and donate clothes that no longer fit. I’ve made lists of things that they’ll need for the chillier months ahead and thrown away things that were looking tired and worn. I find it so hard to shop for sweaters and jeans when it’s still so hot and muggy here in New York City but suddenly the wind has picked up and Fall is definitely on the horizon so I’m ready to shop.
When I turned thirteen, my mom surprised me with a trip to New York City from our tiny town in Canada. We boarded the Greyhound bus and about eight hours later we pulled into Port Authority. I had arrived. The three things I remember the most from that trip were the variety of running shoe stores lining Broadway, the incredible Broadway performance of CATS and shopping at Macy’s Herald Square. I’ll never forget entering the huge revolving doors and being both overwhelmed and smitten with the multiple floors and selection of clothes that we most certainly didn’t have access to in my little town up North.
Macy’s has become a one-stop-shop for everything my kids need to fill in the holes in their wardrobe. From underwear to party dresses and pajamas with the kids’ favorite characters, I’m able to find everything I need for them and then make a quick stop at the beauty counter for myself as well. I specifically have my eye on this snuggly North Face hoodie for my daughter and these tiny Levi’s for my son. This weekend I’ll be attending our local Macy’s Back to School event and I’m so excited to take the kids back to the place that perhaps kick started my love of fashion. The event will feature a performance by fifteen-year-old pop sensation, singer/songwriter Daniel Skye. You’ll be able to meet Daniel and take photos after the performance. If you have a tween in your life, you probably won’t want to miss this.
