Last week I had the pleasure of attending a breakfast hosted by Momtrends and Lysol®. The topic? Maintaining our children's beloved stuffed animals. Every caregiver knows the importance of loveys and stuffies. Given that they go everywhere and ultimately end up in bed with our kids, it's important that we be diligent about keeping them clean. Contrary to popular belief, washing stuffed animals (or any laundry) with regular detergent in cold water does not kill all bacteria, including harmful bacteria that cause illness like staph infections. Lysol® Laundry Sanitizer helps eliminate these sickness-and odor-causing bacteria simply by adding it to your laundry cycle.

I also picked up some great tips and tricks from DIY expert Mandi Gubler for keeping children's stuffed friends looking their best. Here's how to maintain and sanitize your children's stuffed animals:

Step 1: Start by mending any loose part of the stuffed animal before putting it in the wash. If the stuffed animal is fragile, place it inside a laundry bag for extra protection.

Step 2: Put stuffed animals and laundry detergent into washing machine as you normally would.

Step 3: Add Lysol® Laundry Sanitizer to the fabric softener compartment.

Step 4: Start the laundry cycle. Your stuffed animals will come out, with 99.9% of bacteria killed.

Lysol® Laundry Sanitizer can be used on any washable fabrics, white or dark, because it's completely bleach-free. I love using it on socks and sports gear. It removes 99.9% of odor-causing bacteria.
