J&R Jr. Launch

Bubba and I had the privilege of attending J&R Music and Computer World's launch of J&R Jr., downtown Manhattan's new one-stop shop for all things baby and child.

J&R Jr Where Kids Come to Grow

For over 40 years, J&R, a family-run business founded by Joe and Rachelle Friedman (“J” and “R”), has been bringing people and technology together with the best in electronics and computers. Its downtown megastore at 1 Park Row across from City Hall Park is a "must-shop" for New Yorkers in the know. Their son, J&R Executive Vice President Jason Friedman, conceived the idea for J&R Jr., a 15,000 square foot space atop J&R's existing location, as a one-stop shopping and social destination for families.

The launch event, hosted by our friends at Momtrends and KidzVuz, showcased J&R Jr.'s outstanding selection of baby and kids' products, with everything from tech to toys, safety to strollers, and a vast entertainment space. What struck me most about the store is how user- and kid-friendly everything is. J&R Jr. actually encourages consumers (even the mini ones) to test out its merchandise including toy stations, strollers, furniture, etc. I can't recall any other retailer in Manhattan like it.

Bubba likes this "touch everything" concept and gives J&R Jr. 2 chubby thumbs up!

If you look around carefully, you'll spy adorable art work from my favorite NYC artist and designer, Sam Simon:

J&R Jr. also hosts regular live events for the whole family and is expecting a visit from the Easter Bunny so you'll want to sign-up for their newsletter and "Like" them on Facebook for the latest. You can also join Big City Moms at J&R Jr. every Wednesday for Rockin' with Andy.

If you're not based in NYC, fret not. J&R's broad selection of merchandise and amazing deals can be found online too, with free shipping on thousands of items each day.

Welcome to the neighborhood J&R Jr.!
