There's nothing like a good mystery novel to keep me up till the wee hours, hiding under the covers with my reading light to avoid a scolding from Leo.

Moonlighting as a sleuth undoubtedly comes from my mom, who devours novels so quickly, she keeps a running list so she doesn't forget and start reading the same ones over again. She's often inquired as to why the books she's so captivated by don’t end up being made into movies and rattles off a list of actors she would cast in each role.

Well, TNT must get that often because its launching new programming this month called Mystery Movie Night, and has partnered with 7 best-selling mystery/thriller novelists to bring the following crime stories to television in 4 weeks of original movies:

  • INNOCENT by Scott Turow (Starring Bill Pullman and Marcia Gay Harden Tuesday, November 29 at 9/8c)
  • DECK THE HALLS by Mary Higgins Clark & Carol Higgins Clark
  • SILENT WITNESS by Richard North Patterson
  • RICOCHET by Sandra Brown
  • HIDE by Lisa Gardner
  • GOOD MORNING, KILLER by April Smith

I was beyond excited to get an invitation to a Mystery Movie Night Q&A with the authors and actress Marcia Gay Harden, and am tickled that I get to share it with all of you (well, those who will be in NYC the evening of November 17th anyway).

Of course my mom is coming. I can't think of a better girl's night! The event is open to the public, just be sure to RSVP as soon as possible as space is limited.
