Last night at Lincoln Center, the lovely Lauren of A Mommy in the City and I had the honor of both attending and covering the Red Carpet for The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection to kick off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2011.
I never gave much thought to how those Who Wore It Best? photos came into existence but last night was a crash course in Paparazzi 101!
Working the Red Carpet was a rare glimpse behind the scenes and an exciting opportunity to get up close and personal with the inspirational celebrities and designers passionate about raising awareness for heart disease, the #1 killer of women and leading cause of death in the United States and most other developed countries.
All of the models looked stunningly beautiful in their red dresses but a few stood out.
Eva Amurri in Chris Benz just blew me away. She was perfection from head-to-toe. Forget that the dress isn't really red:
Cat Deeley in Alberta Ferretti:
Taraji P. Henson in Naeem Khan:
And Laila Ali rockin' A Pea in the Pod literally:
Other highlights from the Red Carpet:
Swarovski worn by Julienne Hough:
The beautiful and humble Ali Sweeney in Tadashi Shoji (who also gave me a shout out on her blog for a picture I tweeted)
Audrina Patridge in a super form-fitting Badgley Mischka:
Patti LaBelle and Linda Gray posing with their respective designers, Zang Toi and Pamela Roland.
Dita Von Tesse wearing Zac Posen (could her body be anymore ridiculous?!):
Katrina Bowden in Oscar de la Renta:
Garcelle Beauvais in Monique Lhullier:
Each celeb strutted down the catwalk to her own anthem and the crowd, including Matthew McConaughey, Jay Manuel, Miss Jay Alexander, Ex-Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Robert Verdi, and Carson Kressley loved it!
Before the finale, Natasha Bedingfield performed an acoustic version of her latest hit, "Strip Me" (forgive the horrendous quality and lack of editing):
The show closed with a final walk to the over-saturated but nonetheless catchy "Firework" by Katy Perry. Here's a little peek:
It was an unforgettable experience and a fabulous night for a important cause which unfortunately has affected my family, as it has millions.
