Well, it's about time. Thanks to the generosity of Seventh Generation, four pumping and nursing pods, manufactured by MamaVa, were created and installed in key New York Metropolitan airports.
Through October, the pods will be open at all three New York area airports: one at JetBlue’s Terminal 5 at JFK Airport, two at Newark Liberty International Airport, and one at LaGuardia.
Created by Mamava, a company dedicated to transforming the culture of breastfeeding, the self-contained, mobile pods offer comfortable benches, an electrical outlet, and door that can be fully shut for privacy. The pods meet the growing interest of mothers to have the choice of a clean, quiet, and private space to pump breastmilk in busy public locales such as airport terminals.
I think it's an incredible amenity to offer families. Hopefully if the demand is strong enough, pumping and nursing stations will be implemented at other airports and dare I dream, other public spaces as well.
